Long Beach Utilities to host community budget workshops starting May 2

LONG BEACH, CALIF. (April 22, 2024) — The Long Beach Utilities Commission will be hosting a series of three community budget workshops starting May 2. This will include a discussion on water, sewer, and gas rates for fiscal year 2025; rates are established annually to fund utility services to the community.

“Utility services are essential to every household, business, and community-based organization,” says Board President Naomi Rainey. “We look forward to hearing community feedback at these workshops as we continue to fund existing operations and investments for our future. This is your city, and we want to hear your thoughts.”

Long Beach residents and businesses are invited to provide input at three public workshops hosted by the Long Beach Board of Utilities Commissioners:

·      Thursday, May 2

·      Thursday, May 16

·      Thursday, June 6

All workshops will be held at 9 a.m. at the Long Beach Utilities Administration Building, 1800 E. Wardlow Road.

The budget, inclusive of rates, is expected to be adopted by the Board of Utilities Commissioners at the final public workshop on Thursday, June 6. Budget workshops will include in-depth discussions about proposed improvements to the water, gas, and sewer systems, including pipeline replacements and water quality enhancements.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings and share input. Comments can also be sent via email to commission@lbutilities.org.
