Gas Rebates and Incentives

Long Beach Utilities is offering home energy-efficiency rebates on natural gas products for residential customers to save money and energy. 


Follow these four steps to apply for rebates:
  1. Review eligible appliance details listed below.

  2. Purchase an eligible appliance model.

  3. Download and complete the following application:

  4. Mail or email your completed application and supporting documents to:

*This program is for appliances purchased in 2026 only. The 2025 program closed on February 15, 2026.
*Application must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2026, to be eligible for the rebate.
*Most qualifying products will require a finalized permit. Please contact the Long Beach Community Development Department Permit Center at (562) 570-7648 to confirm if your product will require a permit.
*Installation of certain natural gas devices, including tankless water heaters and pool heaters, may require an upgrade to your gas meter with proof of finalized inspection for the rebate to be issued. Please contact the us at (562) 570-5991 to confirm if your gas meter will require an upgrade. 

Qualifying List of Energy-Efficient Appliances

Natural Gas Oven

$120 Rebate on qualifying(PDF, 157KB) energy-efficient residential freestanding natural gas ovens. Must be replacing an existing natural gas oven and must be listed on the qualifying model list.


ENERGY STAR Certified Natural Gas Dryer

$70 rebate on an ENERGY STAR certified natural gas dryer with a CEF of 3.48 or greater. Check to see if your model qualifies at ENERGY STAR.


ENERGY STAR Certified Natural Gas Tankless Water Heater

$80 to $1,500 rebate on various ENERGY STAR certified natural gas tankless water heaters. Long Beach permit required. Check for your model's UEF at AHRI.

*Tankless water heaters may require a dedicated or upsized gas line to meet City code for supply pressure and flow requirements. Please contact the Community Development Department at (562) 570-7648 or visit the Community Development's Permit Center website to confirm if your water heater installation will require gas line modifications.

$80 rebate with a UEF of 0.82 - 0.86
$900 rebate with a UEF of 0.87 - 0.94
$1,100 rebate with a UEF of 0.95
$1,300 rebate with a UEF of 0.96 to 0.97
$1,500 rebate with a UEF of 0.98 or above

High-Efficiency Natural Gas Storage Water Heater

$300 to $575 rebate on various ENERGY STAR High-Efficiency natural gas storage water heaters. Long Beach permit required.

$300 rebate - Tier I Medium Draw (0.64 - 067 UEF)
$325 rebate - Tier II High Draw (0.68 - 0.77 UEF)
$575 rebate - Tier III High Draw (0.78 UEF or above)

Natural Gas Fireplace Insert

$300 to $500 rebate on various natural gas fireplace inserts. Qualifying units(PDF, 275KB) must have an electronic pilot ignition. Long Beach permit required.

$300 rebate - Tier I (70-74.9% FE)
$500 rebate - Tier II (75% FE or greater)


Natural Gas Pool Heater

$600 to $1,500 rebate on natural gas pool heaters, up to 500,000 btu. See the attached Pool Heater List(PDF, 197KB) for qualifying models. Long Beach permit required.


ENERGY STAR Certified Natural Gas Furnace

Receive a $25 per kBtuh rebate on an ENERGY STAR certified natural gas furnaces. Long Beach permit required.


Natural Gas Wall Oven

$500 rebate on qualifying(PDF, 157KB) energy-efficient residential natural gas wall ovens. Must be replacing an existing natural gas wall oven.


Natural Gas Patio Heater

$400 rebate on qualifying(PDF, 143KB) natural gas patio heater units. Long Beach permit required.
