Large Valve Replacement (EO-3637)
Project Information
Long Beach Utilities and its contractor, Stephen Doreck Equipment Rentals, Inc., is scheduled to conduct underground utility improvements to replace large valve equipment at three intersection locations. Replacing large water valves will improve the flow of drinking water for distribution and help improve the Utilities' underground pipeline infrastructure.
Work Area and Traffic Impacts:

Construction will occur at the intersection of Stearns Street and Lakewood Boulevard (Council District 4). Northbound and southbound traffic on Lakewood Boulevard will be closed to one-single lane. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Stearns Street will have street closures for up to 10 consecutive days.

Construction will also occur at Orange Avenue and San Antonio Drive (Council District 5 and Council District 8). Northbound/Southbound traffic on Orange Avenue and Eastbound/Westbound traffic on San Antonio Drive will be closed to one-single lane.

Lastly, there will be construction at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Carson Street (Council District 5). Northbound/southbound traffic on Orange Avenue and Westbound/eastbound traffic on Carson Street will be closed to one-single lane.
Project Timeline
Expected Start Date: Week of April 21, 2025
Expected End date: Late August 2025
Project Construction Hours: Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM (Note: Long Beach Utilities may need to conduct 24-hour/7 day work)

During construction hours, noise and debris will be present. Contractor will take measures to minimize noise and dust as much as possible.

Please observe all "NO PARKING" signs and remove your vehicle from the area as required.

Water service interruption is not anticipated during this construction.
