ALERT: Don’t fall for the fraud!

Long Beach Utilities often gets reports of fraudsters trying to scam Long Beach Utilities customers via phone and text message.

The scams can vary in content, but almost always involve someone asking for direct payment within a limited amount of time and threatening to turn off your water service if you don’t pay.

The most important thing to know is that Long Beach Utilities will never ask you for payment over the phone, and we do not communicate with our customers via text message. If we do need to contact you about your bill, we’ll send you an automated voice message asking you to give us a call back so we can work together to help you pay off your balance.

So if someone sends you a text or calls you asking for immediate bill payment, don’t give them your personal information. Not sure if it’s real? Give us a call.

And as always, if you have any questions or concerns about your account or need help paying your bill, call us at (562) 570-5700.

In person

Long Beach Utilities has also received reports of individuals going door-to-door pretending to be Utilities employees.

These individuals might tell you that they need to check your water or come into your house to install a filter.

Please know that Long Beach Utilities would never come unannounced to your home to check water quality.

We take steps on our end to ensure the water we serve to our customers to ensure it’s safe, clean and delicious before it reaches your home. We do thousands of tests every month and publish an annual water quality report.

If you have concerns about your water quality, please give us a call at (562) 570-2479.
